Andrew Chung, Vice President and Senior Commercial Banker for American Riviera Bank , is a 25-year resident of Santa Barbara. Andrew came to town a week after getting married when he and his wife, Ri, selected Santa Barbara for the site of their honeymoon as well as their future residence. With all their worldly possessions they arrived in Santa Barbara in the midst of a torrential rainstorm in 1994.
After 10 years with Wells Fargo, a former associate asked Andrew to join him in his efforts to help develop a new startup bank, formally known as “The Bank of Santa Barbara” in 2005. He found this to be a challenge and opportunity to enhance his banking career and after many long late hours of discussion with his wife, decided to make the move forward. Subsequently, in 2016 The Bank of Santa Barbara merged with another local community bank, American Riviera Bank, to join efforts in growing both combined banks into a true central coast community bank.
During Andrew’s off hours, he is involved with the The Jodi House (Brain Injury Association of Santa Barbara) as a 14 year board member, First Tee Central Coast, and Santa Barbara Contractors Association. He enjoys spending time with his wife, his daughters Amanda and Allison (both San Marcos High School graduates). He has a passion for the outdoors hiking, fly fishing, backpacking, and camping with family and friends. Often times he and his wife will get in the car and road trip for a day during the weekends to visit spots around the south and central coast not yet traveled. The family enjoys seeking out new places and finding the hot spots and what makes these areas so special. Andrew and his wife will be “empty nesters” here in the short term and look forward to many more adventures to come.
